Epson ink
The Epson Stylus SX400 like its predecessors before it offers the functionality of three machines in one compact glossy black case. In a role of a basic inkjet printer the SX400 is good but where it shines is in the role of a photo printer. It’s built-in memory card reader and LCD screen means you can print directly from a memory cards or from a suitable digital camera via the PictBridge connection. The scanner has a maximum resolution of 1,200dpi and come with software that enables removal of red eye from photos, colour restoration and backlight correction on faded or old scanned photos. Ink for the Epson SX400 come in the form of four colour cartridges which feature DURABrite Ultra printer ink, an ink technology that produces prints that are touch dry, resistant to water, smudging and fading as soon as they leave the printer. Retailers offer Epson ink cartridges for the Stylus SX400 as individual colours or as a full set multi-pack. Overall the Stylus SX400 is a good all rounder although one thing that lets it down is the speed in which it prints which is considerably slower than what Epson claim.

Epson ink
Epson all-in-one inkjet printers have always been packed with features but the new Stylus SX600FW is the first to offer not only printing scanning and copying but fax facilities as well. Another first is the automatic document feed which makes scanning, copying and faxing multi-page documents a lot quicker and easier than with previous all-in-ones models. The integrated card reader and PicBridge mean photos can be printed directly from memory card or digital camera without the need for a PC. The copying facility also works in the manner which is useful for copying documents in a hurry when there is no time to wait for the PC to boot up. Epson SX600FW ink cartridges come in the form of four individual cartridges and feature DURABrite Ultra, which is a printer ink technology developed by Epson to protect prints from general wear and tear as soon as they leave the printer. As well as genuine Epson ink there are compatible inks available for the Stylus SX600FW which are excellent value for people on a budget. The icing on the cake for the SX600FW is the fact that it has built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet which means it can be shared between multiple computers without the need for ugly wires running everywhere.
